Shell Bleiweiss practices environmental law and OSHA law exclusively, including litigation in environmental and OSHA cases, and has done so for over 25 years. He was an equity partner at one of the largest and leading firms in the country before establishing his own firm in 1999. His clients range from Fortune 100 companies to small businesses and individuals.

Shell attended the Northwestern University School of Law, where he served as an editor on the Journal of Criminal Law & Criminology, and from which he received his J.D. degree in 1982. He has published and spoken on environmental, health and safety issues extensively.

Prior to law school, Shell was a wildlife ecologist, and holds bachelors and masters degrees in wildlife ecology from Southern Illinois University. He was an environmental consultant for the six years prior to law school.

Shell Bleiweiss practiced environmental and OSHA law for 16 years with three of the largest law firms in the United States, most recently as a partner for 10 years at McDermott, Will & Emery. During that time large firm hourly rates passed the $300 per hour mark ($400 in some cases), making it difficult or impossible to practice cost-efficient law. At the same time, for an environmental lawyer whose cases often involve many parties, conflicts associated with large firm lists of clients made it difficult to dependably serve the needs of existing and new clients. On January 1, 1998 Shell founded the Law Offices of Shell J. Bleiweiss to provide cost-efficient, top-quality service to environmental and OSHA clients.
